Making the Impossible Possible: Björn Rohlich on Leading Operations at ChartWorld

08/01/2026

From childhood sails to industry-leading service, Björn Rohlich’s expertise in the maritime industry is powered by a deep love for the ocean.

For Björn Rohlich, the sea has always been more than a backdrop, it’s been a lifelong passion. “Ever since my dad took me sailing on Lake Chiemsee, I’ve loved being on the water,” he shares. That feeling runs so deep, it even shaped his wedding which was hosted on a historic rum sailing vessel, with the ceremony performed by his former naval commanding officer.

From Sailor to Strategist

Björn now heads the operations department at ChartWorld and SevenCs as Global Operations Director. His mission is to ensure that ChartWorld’s global clients experience minimal downtime and maximum support.

“ChartWorld has always been a leader in innovation and digitalisation,” Björn explains. “Our navigation products stand out because they’re designed by mariners, for mariners.” Many team members, including Björn himself, still enjoy time on the water, bringing real-world insight into every solution.

A Culture of Commitment

At ChartWorld, operations isn’t just about logistics, it’s about trust. Björn’s team is driven by a shared commitment to keeping vessels moving safely and efficiently. Whether it’s an unexpected challenge, critical repair or a complex coordination, they rise to the challenge with speed, precision, and pride.

Redefining Response Times

One of Björn’s proudest achievements is transforming ChartWorld’s customer support response times. “When I joined, we were at industry standard. Now, for urgent cases, we respond in about half an hour. I believe it’s the best in the industry.”

That success is built on teamwork. Björn ensures spare parts reach vessels quickly, engineers deliver first-time fixes, and every challenge is met with a clear plan. “The most rewarding part is when something seems impossible, and then your team makes it happen.”

“Making the impossible possible,” Björn says with a smile. “That’s the most rewarding part.”
